Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT)
treats mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea in 3 ways: 1. By moving the tongue forwards. 2. By moving the lower jaw forwards. 3. By forward movement of both tongue and jaw. Dr. Choi decides which appliance is most suitable for each patient depending on the clinical findings. The following are important deciding factors: § The resting position of the tongue. § The resting position of the lower jaw. § The resting muscle tone. § The envelope of movement of the lower jaw. § Radiographic imaging of the throat. § Factors that cause intrusion into the space left for the tongue. If you think you are stuck to the CPAP machine, there is help. Read about my search or an alternative in the next page. You don't have to be stuck to the inconvenience and impracticality of the CPAP: there is beauty behind the veil! Please go to "Pictures of Appliances" to view some of the appliances that we use.
Jesus answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." (John 4:13,14) |
